The sun winks at me through the trees
My daughter’s laughter drowns out the bird’s song
I think of you, my sister, playing with your daughter too
It seems like it’s been too long
Half a world away
But still close in my mind
Our lives have led down different paths
A common one we cannot find
But, dear sister, although far away
And for awhile out of sight
Know that I wait with baited breath
For sisters and cousins to re-unite.
Such a lovely cadence to this!
It’s so hard being away from family, isn’t it? I’m so glad we have the internet to bridge the gap, even if just a little bit!
Thank goodness for modern technology!
